personally, i'm sure that the universe began with a hot big bang, but will it gone on foreverand and if not how will it end. I'm much less certain about that. The expansion of the universe spreads everithing out, but gravity tries to pull it all back together again. Our destiny depends on which force will win. On the influence of gravity in turn depends the universe on what made of and just how much of it there is. it won't be easy to find out if, as we suspect, most of it is dark matter, stuff we can't even see
